Koyia is a Swedish scent company with the ambition to reduce the gap between people and nature. In a world where speed, constant availability, and short-term consumption increasingly threaten both human well-being and planetary health, we are committed to contributing to a more balanced and sustainable trajectory.
Our conviction is simple but fundamental: society needs to slow down. Providing space for recovery, presence, and meaningful interaction with nature supports human health and well-being while reinforcing care for the ecosystems upon which both society and business depend.
Our Role and Responsibility
Koyia develops natural scent oils based on carefully hand-picked spruce shoots and essential oils with phytoncides – an ingredient with scientifically documented stress-reducing and health-supporting effects, including lowered heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels, as well as improved heart rate variability (HRV), focus, and immune function.
Sustainability is embedded in our business model. We operate in a context where the gap between people and nature continues to widen, while prevailing consumption patterns drive both health-related and environmental challenges. Koyia’s role is to counter these trends through products, communication, and operational decisions that support long-term value creation for people, the planet, and our business.

Research shows that a stronger relationship with nature increases the willingness to protect it. For Koyia, this represents a sustainability area of double materiality: our scents rely on healthy forest ecosystems, while simultaneously aiming to strengthen people’s relationship with nature and thereby support its long-term preservation.

Koyia contributes to mitigating stress-related ill health by promoting recovery, nature connection, and mindful presence in daily life. Stress is not only an individual challenge but also a structural outcome of acceleration-driven systems, which also contribute to climate and environmental pressures. Through our products and value proposition, we support conditions for long-term physical and mental well-being.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
We challenge business models that prioritize volume, speed, and constant replacement. Koyia designs products and experiences intended to be valued over time, encouraging more conscious consumption. The batches are small in order to manage resources efficiently, avoid overproduction and waste. Our ambition is to influence a shift in value creation toward quality, longevity, and long-term outcomes rather than short-term output.
CLIMATE ACTION
Climate impact is closely linked to resource use intensity and consumption patterns. By promoting slower, more deliberate consumption and fostering a deeper connection with nature, Koyia addresses both the effects of climate change and its structural drivers, including overconsumption, resource depletion, and detachment from ecological boundaries.
